ALPA Awards Presidential Citation to Delta Air Lines Capt. Robert Hawk

Cummings Pilot Honored for Commitment to Advancing Safety

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) today recognized Delta Air Lines Airlines Capt. Robert Hawk with a Presidential Citation at its 65th Air Safety Forum.

“Capt. Hawk’s dedication to his colleagues and to advancing the airline piloting profession is an excellent example of how one pilot can positively impact the entire aviation industry,” said Capt. Joe DePete, ALPA president. “Through his contributions as the manager for Delta Air Lines Flight Operational Quality Assurance program (FOQA), Capt. Hawk has promoted a safer environment for pilots around the globe. He is a true asset to ALPA and a powerful advocate for aviation safety.”

In addition to his work as manager of the FOQA program for the Delta Air Lines Master Executive Council, Capt. Hawk has also served on the Delta Air Lines Central Air Safety Committee, where he served four years as chair and seven years as vice chair.

“Delta Air Lines pilots have undoubtedly benefited from Capt. Hawk’s numerous contributions to aviation safety. Through his work, Capt. Hawk has played a key role in enhancing safety for his fellow pilots through promoting a risk-based approach to aviation safety,” said Capt. Ryan Schnitzler, chairman of the Delta Air Lines branch of ALPA.
