2023 ALPA-PAC Roll of Distinction
Letter From the President
A little over a year ago, when I became ALPA president, I also became the chair of the ALPA-PAC Steering Committee. And what a year it’s been! A month after taking office, I was on Capitol Hill for the first time to testify before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. This was the first of three occasions that I testified before Congress. Each time, I met directly with leaders in both parties and explained ALPA’s position in detail. And I haven’t been alone in promoting the Association’s pilot-partisan agenda. During our Legislative Summit last June, nearly 200 ALPA members descended on Capitol Hill to advocate for our key issues. In addition, we worked with our Government and Legislative Affairs Committee chairs to put together “pilot visibility days” in July, September, November, and this January. And we continued to encourage ALPA district advocates to reinforce our message by meeting with their representatives and senators in their home districts and states.
This is what I learned firsthand from my experiences over the past year: the money we contribute to ALPA-PAC helps. It helps us build relationships with members of Congress we want to keep in Congress.
But money isn’t everything. The countless letters we collectively sent, the constituent meetings in member districts, and our direct advocacy have also made the difference in our efforts. And for that, thank you.
By the numbers, ALPA-PAC has grown significantly with more than 15,250 individual donors in 2023, and more than 13,800 of these individuals are contributing each month either via payroll deduction or with a recuring credit card. These contributions totaled more than $2.5 million—a record, and an important benchmark as we continue to grow.
We couldn’t do it without the individuals listed on the following pages. These ALPA-PAC donors chose to contribute to one of our higher donor clubs. And for the first time in a decade we launched a new donor group—the Behncke 1931 Club—which pays homage to the year of ALPA’s founding. I’m pleased to report that its ranks reached more than 100 members in its first year, and there are dozens more who will be joining in 2024. This inaugural group of ALPA members understands the value of our advocacy efforts and recognizes that a strong PAC is a crucial component for our union to pursue a pilot-partisan agenda and a pilot-friendly Congress.
In short, we can’t do it without you. Thank you!
