A Decade of Growth
By Kevin Cuddihy, Contributing Writer
On April 22, 2014—10 years ago this month—the pilots of JetBlue Airways officially joined ALPA. No one knew at the time, but the addition of the 2,600-plus JetBlue pilots would represent a turning point for the Association.
Prior to 2014, ALPA’s membership numbers had been relatively level throughout the early 2010s as the industry rebounded from the recession. While there’ve been a few bumps along the way (see Coming and Going), the Association’s numbers have risen ever since the pilots of JetBlue voted for ALPA representation.
Let’s take a look at how the Association has grown in the 10 years since the addition of the JetBlue pilots—both in the number of pilot groups and the number of represented pilots.
