With the 2016-17 academic year fully under way, ALPA pilots are reaching out to students of all ages to relate how their love of flying has translated into a fulfilling career. For decades, ALPA has worked to pique the interest of new generations of aviators with the goal of ensuring a strong pilot workforce for the future.
It’s finally here! Election Day in the United States. After taking a trip to the polls to cast your vote, we thought this would be a good time to highlight ALPA’s Executive Vice President elections that took place in October, including the first female pilot to serve as an ALPA EVP.
Over the weekend, September 24 marked a successful day for the future of aviation, as young people all around the world came together for Girls in Aviation Day events. Hosted by local chapters of Women in Aviation International (WAI), these annual events are designed specifically to inspire and encourage young women ages 8 to 17 to pursue and celebrate their flight dreams, and many ALPA members were actively involved in events in their communities.
This week in Washington, D.C., ALPA hosted its 62nd Air Safety Forum, an annual event that brings together airline pilots, subject-matter experts, and government and industry partners for in-depth discussions to drive improvements in aviation safety, security, and pilot health. During the four-day event, ALPA honored outstanding contributions by pilots and featured panels that addressed long-standing and emerging issues in key safety areas.
