2019 ALPA AIRPORT OF THE YEAR AWARD

Named “Best Airport in North America” for a record 10 years in a row, ALPA adds to the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) accolades with the 2019 Airport of the Year Award for its outstanding working relationship with the union. YVR has always listened to the concerns of line pilots, and consistently shows interest in bringing ALPA into the loop by involving the airport safety liaison. YVR also sends regular updates with regard to hazards, construction, and changes at the airport, making the timely dissemination of this information to all ALPA pilots a priority. YVR invited ALPA to participate in the biannual chief pilots’ meetings and full- scale mock accident events at YVR, where ALPA pilots illustrated the “Orange Card” resources in action, demonstrating the skills of ALPA’s Air Safety Organization, particularly the Accident Investigation team.
