Fostering Understanding and Collaboration Among the Various Pilot Generations
ALPA’s more than 67,000 pilots who fly for 39 U.S. and Canadian airlines can be classified by four distinct generations: Baby Boomers, Generation X, Generation Y (millennials), and Generation Z.
These age-group differences are an important factor when the Association considers the best ways to engage and communicate with members. To be effective, our union must take into consideration the traits and life experiences of these groups. Understanding how these different generations of ALPA pilots work, interact, and respond to change enables the Association to close the gaps that may exist with these generations to build greater unity among our pilot groups.
