Welcoming New Leaders to the World’s Largest Pilots’ Union

Yesterday, during ALPA’s 47th biennial Board of Directors meeting in Washington, D.C., the union’s highest governing body elected new officers to lead the Association for the next four years. They will take office on January 1, 2019.

FedEx Express Capt. Joe DePete, who currently serves as ALPA first vice president and national safety coordinator, was elected to serve as the union’s 11th president. The Board also voted in United Airlines Capt. Bob Fox to serve as first vice president, Envoy Air Capt. Bill Couette was reelected to a fourth term as vice president-administration/secretary, and United Airlines Capt. Joseph Genovese was elected vice president–finance/treasurer.

“Today, ALPA’s highest governing body has spoken, and this is democracy in action. I am confident that the new officers will seize the opportunity to advance our profession for the next four years,” said Capt. Tim Canoll, ALPA’s current president.
