ALPA’s Back-to-School Challenge: Students, Do You Have What It Takes to be an Airline Pilot?

As students head back to school this fall, the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) presents this challenge: Do you have what it takes to be an airline pilot? Visit ALPA’s Cleared to Dream website to get more information about how to become an airline pilot – everything from mentorship programs and “day-in-the-life” examples to requirements and scholarship opportunities.

While you’re there, take these three actions to learn more:

This summer, ALPA joined approximately 300 grade school counselors, administrators, and educators at the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) conference to help counselors answer questions about pathways to enter the industry and how to find the information students and counselors alike need most. F/O Mitch Murgoitio (UAL) talked specifically about the current marketplace for airline pilots and the accessibility of the career.

ALPA is also proud to partner with ASCA in Aviation Works 4 U, an educational resource and workforce development initiative to increase the number of students interested in entering the aviation and aerospace industry. Through these and other outreach efforts, ALPA is promoting the piloting profession, mentoring aspiring aviators, and preparing future generations of pilots to join the ranks of our members.
