When you donate to the Pilots for Pilots (P4P) Fund, you’re helping your fellow ALPA members and their families. As part of this summer’s 717 Club donation campaign, ALPA reached out to seven of the pilots who have received grants from P4P in the recent past to share their stories. Click here to donate today and make sure the next pilot who needs help gets it. Remember, we’re all just a disaster away from needing P4P.
Capt. Nathan Caron (TSA) evacuated his family from their home in the face of a Category 5 Hurricane Matthew. But while the hurricane missed hitting them directly, the costs associate with the evacuation piled up. “I only had about three days to prepare, including shuttering my house, stocking up on food, water, and supplies, and evacuating my family.” Combined with being removed from flying to take care of all this, things got tight. But while P4P doesn’t cover flight pay loss, the fund was able to reimburse Caron for the money spent to evacuate. “We were able to pay our bills and a weight was lifted off of us,” he said. “Many thanks to ALPA and the P4P program!”
