The wait is almost over! The 2017 International Women in Aviation Conference is only two days away. It’s always exhilarating to celebrate the passion and enthusiasm of women who contribute to advancing aviation, but this year’s conference is shaping up to be even more exciting than usual. Here are a few things we’re especially looking forward to:
A diverse roster of fascinating speakers, including:
- ALPA First Officers Claudia Zapata-Cordon and Sara Wilson who will give an overview of the current pilot job market and provide interview tips and other information to help current pilots and collegiate aviators land their dream job.
- Vernice “FlyGirl” Armour, who was recognized by the U.S. Department of Defense as America’s first African-American female combat pilot.
- Jenette E. Ramos, who was named vice president and general manager of Boeing Fabrication in April 2014. David Bronczek, president and CEO of Memphis-based FedEx Express, who will become president and COO of FedEx Corporation effective January 1, 2018.
Loads of scholarships: Over $600,000 in scholarships, including several from ALPA carriers, will be awarded at the closing banquet on Saturday night!
Don’t forget to stop by the ALPA booth (#423) if you’re attending the event. And, if you’re an ALPA pilot there for an interview, check out the FFD Interview Workshop tomorrow on March 1 – a free resource that will help your interview with your dream airline career!
